Powder Puff tie

No one likes a tie. So I can understand the disappointment over last night’s tie in the Southington/Cheshire powder puff game. These kinds of decisions are not easy, especially when there are no rules to cover the situation. I’m sure the coaches took that into account along with the chilly weather and the reality that after playing four quarters of football it might not have been wise to play another quarter. I’m not defending them, just trying to put myself in their shoes. When I do that, I also consider this decision had to be made quickly before thousands of very partisan fans.
I’ve read some of the comments posted on MyRecordJournal after the game story. Some of them are way over the line. Insulting coaches, players and the town’s they represent is not helpful. It was a hard fought, well-played game. Players, parents, coaches and fans should all be proud.

Appearently the person that just posted the comment that it was a "well-played game" was not there last night. The Southington team received unfair calls against them from the refs while the cheshire team blatently pushed or kicked the Southington players in front of the refs and nothing was done. Game was not fair. I am from Cheshire and I am embarrased of last night's game.

I was the Referee at the Powder Puff Game. For you from Cheshire who felt it was an unfair contest by the Referees. since you are such a great judge of Refereeing maybe you ought to become a Ref. We have classes beginning in the spring and lets see how well you do on the field when there are people like you in the stands making such great judgements

I'm sure some calls were hard to make, but really...when there was holding literally 2 feet in front of you...that's not a hard call. And when there's tackling right next to you when the ball's not even on that side of the field...that's not a hard call.

I am a referee and was asked to go to the game to see how the calls were made that night. My partner and I were on each side of the fields and walked up and down the sidelines. Sorry ref, but there were many missed calls. It was obviously a biased game with many calls against the Southington team. We also went to the Meriden, Bristol and New Britain games and yes there were missed calls in those games but not like the Cheshire game. If you were part of my league, you would not have another job.

You are a Referee and you were asked to come and watch the "calls' of a fellow official from another Board? That is outrageous and you should be reprimanded. who are you to determine the quality of offciaiting in a Powder Puff Game? Not only would you not be capable of being part of the New Haven Football officials Association, you should be banned from officiating if that is what you think is appropriate as a brother official. shame on you. As a college official I certainly hope you are not on our College Officials Board because I would be embarassed to do a game with someone as unprofessional as you.
