Pick our new Sunday comic

If you haven’t heard, cartoonist Berkeley Breathed is ending his Opus strip on Sunday, Nov. 2. He is not offering reruns so we have a hole to fill on our Sunday comic page. We have eight strips that run daily, but not Sunday: Gasoline Alley,
Funky Winkerbean, Baldo, Baby Blues, Cathy, Rex Morgan, Mallard Fillmore, Lio (runs in classified pages).
I’d like to hear from readers on their preference to replace Opus. Send me your top three choices in order. You can post them on this blog or send an e-mail to rtomaselli@record-journal.com. We have to make a decision quickly, so Saturday is the deadline.

Baby Blues

Why do you make the first page comics take up half a page each? You could fit more on if you made them
smaller.

I suggest not wasting as much space on a single comic as you did with Opus. I suggest having having multiple comic.

My choices from your list (in order of preference) are:

1) Mallard Fillmore
2) Baby Blues
3) Baldo

I would suggest that you look into carrying the comic "Kevin and Kell" (www.kevinandkell.com) by Bill Holbrook.

Well, thank god it's not the horrible Family Circus. BIl Keane's inane bastardization of the American Dream. But aren't all comics the surreal and twisted idealization of a time and place that never existed? Or so superficial that the artists would have no chance of gleaning any real humor without dipping into the deeper pools of reality? Lack of pupils is a sign of chronic reality dehydration.
